Privacy Policy
This policy explains what we collect when you use the HiChord cloud platform (the Studio editor, community Browse, and your account), why we collect it, and the choices you have. It does not cover the HiChord hardware itself, which works offline over USB.
Last updated: 27 June 2026.
What we collect
- Account data. When you sign up we store your email address and, if you use Google sign-in, the basic profile (name, avatar) Google returns. Auth is handled by Supabase; your password is never stored in plain text.
- Content you create. Sounds (presets) and audio samples you save, upload, or publish — including their names, tags, and any description — plus votes and download counts. Published content is visible to other users in Browse.
- AI generation prompts. If you use AI sound generation, the text prompt is sent to our server and forwarded to ElevenLabs to produce audio. We do not attach your identity to the prompt at the generator.
- Basic technical data. Standard request logs (IP address, timestamp, user agent) used to keep the service running, prevent abuse, and rate-limit costly operations.
What we do not collect
- We do not sell your personal data.
- The Studio talks to your device locally over Web MIDI / WebUSB in your browser; the MIDI data exchanged with your HiChord is not sent to our servers unless you explicitly save or publish a sound.
- We do not store payment-card details on this platform.
How we use it
To provide your account, save and sync your sounds and samples, power community features (Browse, votes, profiles), generate AI audio when you ask for it, and protect the service from abuse. Legal basis where applicable: performing our contract with you and our legitimate interest in a secure, working service.
Who we share it with
Service providers that run the platform on our behalf: Supabase(authentication, database, and file storage), our hosting provider (Vercel), and ElevenLabs (AI sound generation, which receives only your prompt and generation settings). They process data under their own terms and only to provide their service to us.
Storage and security
Data is stored in Supabase with row-level security so that, by default, you can only read and modify your own private content. Published content is readable by others by design. We use HTTPS in transit. No method of storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and limit access to it.
Your choices and rights
- You can edit or delete sounds and samples you have created from your account.
- You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data by emailing us.
- Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or erase your data; contact us to exercise them.
Children
The platform is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy; we will revise the date above and, for material changes, give notice in the app.
